I am at this lodge for a few more days. A weather front is coming through tomorrow and Wednesday. I will be leaving on Thursday for Smokey Mountain National Park. It will take me four days to hike until Newfound Gap.
I saw a bear cub today! Unfortunately, he has been sighted in the same place for a couple of days. He is alone so something must have happened to his mother. Authorities have been contacted by me and others. I sure hope a wildlife rescue comes to get him.
Update on the bear cub, 3/24/22. Yesterday the bear cub was rescued by a wildlife rescue. He was tranqualized and taken away to a safe place.
I did a short hike today and it was very enjoyable.
