6 Mile Marathon Training Run

One week from today is the Seattle Marathon.  I hope the weather is as pleasant to run in as it was today.  The sun shone brightly in the blue sky though the air temperature was a chilly 30 degrees.  I dressed in a running jacket and thick mittens.  I took the mittens off after the first couple miles.

Today I ran 6:09 miles in 1:20:10.  Again, I sound like a broken record, I had problems with my IT band.  I ran the Jennings Loop, Jennings Nature Park, and the neighborhood behind Parkview Estates.  I haven’t been back there in a while.  Every time I encountered a downhill grade, which wasn’t often on this route, I slowed down or walked.  It helped the pain.  I also tried to remember to do 50 paces on each side of the scissor walk Dr. Andersen (sports medicine doctor) recommended at each mile.  It does seem to somewhat ease the pain.
