Mark Almost Tests the Lifevest
We had a wonderful sail today outside Everett in Puget Sound. It got up to 70 degrees and the wind was a quick breeze of 10mph. We sailed all the way around Gedney (Hat) Island. As we were coming into port, we turned into the wind to take down the mainsail. As Mark started, the wind caught the jib. The jib was suppose to just flap in the wind, but a line got caught. The jib pushed the bow over, then the wind caught the mainsail. Then the boom started to move over the water with Mark frantically hanging on. With only his feet still on the boat, he was startled to see water below and about to test his lifevest. I grabbed onto his belt and pulled him back in. Both of us started laughing because it was scary but comical. We then managed to get back on course and get the sail down. I wish I had a video of the whole event.
Here is a video I took today of “coming about”.
