Running in Marysville
Today I jogged the 4.05 mile loop I used as my training walk for my first marathon. Wow. As I typed that sentence I realized it’s the first time I’ve ever done that. I’ve run in other areas of Marysville, a portion of the loop, but never the entire thing.
The loop is a few blocks from my house and on some busy roads. I dislike the amount of traffic the roads now have. Twelve years ago there was less traffic and I didn’t have to increase the volume of my Walkman as much as I have to increase the volume of my Ipod now. I guess I was embarrassed about putting myself out there as a jogger. I was okay as a walker but never a jogger. I’m breaking out of my comfort zone.
There are a few perks to this loop I’m going to try to remember.
1. It is right next to my house.
2. There are fewer sidewalk/driveway breaks than our neighborhood to make jogging easier.
3. Hills make it challenging.
4. Time seems to go by faster if there is more to look at.
5. You don’t have to drive anywhere.
6. There is a clean bathroom only 4 miles from the start.
