Deep Gap Shelter to Dick’s Creek Gap

3.6 miles

69.2 total miles

Today was an easier hike than the previous days. I started out at 7:45am and finished by 10:30am. I went over Powell mountain and the rest was small ups and downs.

I am at the Around the Bend Hostel for the next few days. Today I went into Hiawassee to a store resembling REI and had my pack adjusted. I have been having intense shoulder pain for weeks. Turns out my backpack needed some serious adjustment. I’m taking tomorrow off to let my shoulders feel better.

By the way, a trail name was suggested for me this afternoon. “Tenacious”  I was referred to as Tenacious because the guys I was with couldn’t believe I had hiked 69 miles with a backpack that didn’t fit correctly.

Oh my gosh, I hope the adjustment makes a difference for you. I'm curious what they did. I look forward to hearing about it when you come back. Almost to North Carolina! Way to go, Tenacious!

I'm sure the pack taking a tumble didn't help it either. Stay safe but keep having fun.
