Mile 76 to White Oak Stamp Campsite

5.8 miles
Total miles 81.9
I hiked to North Carolina! The state line was at mile 78.1. My first big milestone.
I would like to say the hiking is getting easier, but it feels exhausting every day. I think some of it is due to nutrition. I have had a headache for days now. It is probably from dehydration. Water is always a concern. I try to start the day with 2 liters.
I ran into a couple today from Europe. The Irish man had walked many of the Caminos in Spain. He said that your hardest/worst day on the Camino is easier than a day on the Appalachian Trail. When I do the Camino de Santiago, I am going to crush it!
I’m getting faster on the downhills and flat areas. The hills are still kicking my butt.
I saw Cowboy and his stuffed penguin again. He gave me a miniscule handwritten message that read, “Believe you can and you will.” This message made my day.

I love that message. I'm going to tell my students about that.
