New Day and a New Goal
I started this blog so I would have a place to record my workouts. I have taken a break from walking/jogging since the Seattle Rock-n-Roll Marathon on June 23rd.
June 29th – 3.2 Miles in 45 minutes
July 2 – 5 Miles in 93 minutes – Walked with Terri
July 9 – 5 Miles in 93 minutes – Walked with Terri
Today I jogged/walked on the treadmill. 5 Miles in 68 Minutes! I jogged most of this at the pace of 4.5 mph. Unfortunately, when I am jogging outside my body wants to go at 5 mph and I have a difficult time sustaining that pace. I’m very happy with myself for getting back on the horse and jogging again. I was scared I might have lost my jogging ability in the few weeks since the awesome marathon Alyssa and I did together.
One of my goals for jogging is to jog for long periods of time. I consider a long period of time to be 2 hours without stopping to walk. I would LOVE to jog 10 miles without stopping sometime in the future. Right now I’ll consider jogging 5 miles thrice a week without stopping awesome! I think I’ll make jogging 5 miles, 3 times a week, my goal for August. I have 20 days to get my body in shape for that.
I’m leaving for a quilt retreat tomorrow at Sisters Oregon with Tracy Harper and Julie Huffman. I packed my jogging clothes and hope to do a short jog on Thursday and Friday mornings. It will have to be early because the predicted temperature is 90 degrees. We’ll see if I get up early and do it.
