New Running Route
Today has been a very long day for my BabyBearButler Sarah. She got a port put in her right arm to make it easier for the chemo drugs to enter her system. It was scheduled for 9:00am this morning and she was finally done around 3:00pm. There was an emergency that delayed Sarah’s surgery.
At least they gave her ultra cool socks to wear! |
While I was out for my jog this afternoon I made a spur of the moment decision. Instead of turning right onto 67th I decided to cross at the light and go straight on 64th/Hwy 528. Highway 528 is a long hill so and at towards the top I found a paved trail I didn’t know about. This trail out and back is 1.37 miles. Not long, but a nice little break from the street.
Hwy 528 has the elevation training I’m going to need if I’m going to complete the Seattle Rock and Roll Half Marathon on June 22nd. I already paid for the half marathon but decided not to do it because my heart wasn’t in it and my jogging has been sporadic in the past few months. After talking to Alyssa on Monday, I decided to do it. She pointed out I should not worry about time and I could walk it, if I wanted to. I should treat it like a fun day seeing the streets of Seattle. My brain tells me to treat it that way, but my competitive side says, “let’s see what kind of a time you can get”.
Today’s mileage was 4 miles with a time of 50:26 minutes. Going up the hills was rough, but I flew down them!
