First Training Run for the Seattle Marathon

Today I started my formal training for the Seattle Marathon on December 1st.  I love the Seattle Marathon, it is my favorite marathon.  Walking and running along Lake Washington Boulevard, through Seward Park, through the arboretum, and finally towards the Space Needle are my fondest memories of marathoning.  This year I hope to run the entire marathon.  I trained last year for it and sprained my ankle a week before.  I’m crossing my fingers nothing happens to prevent me from completing it.

My training run consisted of a 5.05 mile run.  I accomplished it in 1:00:47 minutes, averaging a 12 minute mile.  I’m rather proud of myself.

This run should have been a piece of cake for me.  Unfortunately, I ate a bunch of cherries beforehand.  My tummy didn’t appreciate combining running with cherries.  It made for a miserable few miles, LOL.  I stopped at Jennings Park and felt better.

The weather was cloudy but humid so I ran the last mile on the treadmill in front of the fan.  I’ve been avoiding the treadmill lately, but it wasn’t as boring as I remembered.  It felt wonderful to have the fan blowing in my face during the last mile.
