Sailing to Possession Point on July 19th

Possession Point on the chart

We got a late start on our sail.  I don’t think we were underway until 3:30 pm.  We sailed to the southernmost tip of Whidbey Island, Possession Point.  Mark and I had only sailed there twice before.  Once when we went to Edmonds for lunch, and the other time with Kathy and Dana.  It was a lot faster in the new Jeanne Marie.  She is a much quicker sailboat.

The sky was overcast, the temperature hovered around 70 degrees, and the winds were about 10 – 14 mph.  We lucked out with the rain.  It started to drizzle just as we docked the boat for the evening.  We then had a late dinner docked on the pier.  We are getting a lot of use out of the Magma grill and the microwave in the boat.

Joe and I both took these pictures.  Some are from my phone camera and some are from Joe’s awesome camera.  It will probably be this way on the blog from now on.  FYI it’s my fault we are sailing with the floaties (fenders) in the water.  Mark and Joe would like them up but I’m a klutz and I like to walk on the deck and see them as a trip hazard.  Mark keeps telling me I need to call them by their correct name, fenders, but floaties sound much more natural to me.  At least I refer to the rope as line and haven’t been tossed off the sailboat yet!  ðŸ™‚

A mystery about the weathered, torn, and downright embarrassment of an American flag that came with our new boat.  After repeated trying to get the flag down ourselves and worrying about how we were going to do it, someone anonymously took the flag down for us.  It was rolled up in a ball and tucked into the basket stowed under the dodger.  We’ve asked our new neighbors but no one will admit to it.  Joe said whoever does will be receiving some free beer, lol.
