20 Miles on Sunday, November 4th

It’s been a long time since my last post.  We first went on a vacation to the Midwest for 2 weeks in late September.  I’ve mostly kept up on my marathon training.  I need to keep up with the blogging.

Sunday I completed my 20 mile training run/walk. I did 14 miles on the Centennial Trail and the last 6 miles in Marysville.  I did a run/walk ratio of  running 2 minutes and walking 1 minute.  The first 12 miles went smoothly and the next 8 miles were a bit more of a struggle.  I took more walk breaks and then walked the last few miles.  My legs are sore today but nothing that is too painful.

I’m finding a few things that are working for me on this quest for running.  I’ve found out taking ibuprophen doesn’t work for me.  Sports beans are easier to eat than gummi bears. Another thing is I need to take my high blood pressure medicine before running.  Chocolate milk is a great after run drink.  It is supposed to repair muscles and tastes yummy.

Little by little I’m becoming a runner.
