Urban Adventure #1, Seattle’s Seward Park

First of all, I should explain I had a migraine headache since Sunday and therefore, no runs or exercise of any kind.  On the bright side, I stayed off my left foot/ankle and it is feeling better.

Now for the fun topic of today’s blog entry.  Urban Adventures.  Terri Hall and I used to walk together once a week.  When I decided I to dedicate more time to running I suggested we get together for another activity since she has no interest in running.  She came up with our Urban Adventures.  We are meeting once a month to walk around an area to explore.  Terri is driving and I provide the picnic lunch.  Sounds like a great trade-off to me.  I dislike driving most of the time and love to pack picnic lunches.

Our first Urban Adventure was to Seattle’s Seward Park.  Seward Park is a forested peninsula that juts into Lake Washington.  The day was drizzly and chilly but it was still beautiful.  We had an enjoyable time walking on the 2.5 mile paved trail around the perimeter of the park.  It was a very short walk for us but after the week I had, I was happy about the short distance.

Our picnic lunch consisted of Turkey and Havarti Cheese sandwiches.  Quinoa Wild Rice Salad made with Red, Yellow, and Orange Bell Peppers, Baby Cucumbers, Feta Cheese, Red Onion, and Crushed Red Pepper.  Clementine Oranges.
