A Jog with Mark and 5k by the 5th

Today I jogged with Mark on the Centennial Trail.  I stayed with him through half of my run and then completed the rest on my own.  He wasn’t a happy camper because of the weather!  The sun peaked through the clouds on the drive over to the trail. Unfortunately, it immediately started to rain as soon as we embarked on our jog.  A quarter of a mile into the jog Mother Nature through a curve ball into the mix and tossed some hail onto us.  I thought it was funny.  Mark did not!  He said he will jog with me again on the trail but the weather better be nicer.

Today was also my 5K by the 5th Run day.  I completed my 5K in 39:01 minutes.  I thought it was an okay time considering I hadn’t had any purposeful running in almost 2 weeks.

I decided to give myself a break and train for the Eugene half instead of the full marathon in April.  I’m bummed about it but I still feel pain on a daily basis in my left foot/ankle and I know the best way to recover is not to push it too far.  I’ve only been truly running for 10 months.

I am signed up for the Eugene Marathon in April, Seattle  Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon in June, and the Seattle Marathon in December.  If I continue to train and not injure myself, knock on wood, I should do fantastic in December.

That's too funny about the hail! And wow, I'm so impressed that you were going for a marathon with just ten months of training... yes, starting with the half sounds wise. Thanks for participating!

Thanks for the encouragement Laura. When will we get the info about the medals for the 5 by the 5th?
