Basic Weight Training
Today I attended a YMCA class called Basic Weight Training. I took this class a few times last year too. Anyway, it is offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings so it fits perfectly in with my schedule.
This class does a few too many leg exercises for me but I LOVE the hand weights portion of the class. My upper body will feel very sore for the next few days. I used 5 lb and 8 lb weights today. I’m a bit concerned about running tomorrow. We did a lot of leg exercises that fatigued my leg muscles. Today was supposed to be a rest day for me due to my long training run yesterday. I’m scheduled to run with Laura tomorrow so I don’t want to miss it.
I want to do yoga and the weight training class as my cross-training exercises. They are both supposed to be wonderful for runners and also because I enjoy them. I don’t know whether to try to take both the same day or just do one yoga class a week and one weight training class. Quite the conundrum.
