Following the Training Schedule
I have to say, I’m proud of myself. I’m following the training schedule. Not perfectly but very close. There were so many times last month I didn’t reach my goals, resulting in feelings of discouragement and disappointment.
Today’s treadmill workout consisted of a jog/walk ratio of 4 minutes jogging and 1 minute of walking times 9. Jogging pace was 4.7 mph and walking 3.6 mph. My total mileage was 3.8 counting the warm-up and cool-down.
According to the books I’m reading, I need to do some of these work-outs outdoors. I already knew this and it’s how I trained for all the half-marathons and 2 out of 3 full marathons. As of February this year, when we acquired a new treadmill, I developed the habit of jumping on the treadmill so it makes it difficult for me to go outside. I don’t have to wear sunscreen, I can wear a sleeveless workout shirt and not feel uncomfortable, the bathroom and water is within easy reach, I could go on and on. These are just excuses and if I am to do this correct I need to jog/walk outside.
