Mukilteo Sailing Trip

We sailed to Mukilteo this afternoon!  This is the farthest south we have sailed so far.

Chloe settling in for an afternoon nap

Our sailing voyage started at 1:30 this afternoon with a high temperature of 90 degrees,  I don’t do well in the heat as many family and friends know.  Mark assured me it would be cooler on the water and he was right!  It was much cooler. Well… at the very end when we lost our wind it wasn’t, but that’s farther along in this blog.  We both made sure we were wearing 50 SPF sunscreen and sun hats were in place at the top of our heads.  After telling me it just wasn’t done Mark finally conceded in allowing me to bring my umbrella on the sailboat to guard against the rays of the sun.  It worked and I don’t care if I looked ridiculous with an umbrella.  I was in the shade most of the day.  We had the forward and aft hatches open for Chloe so there was a breeze in the cabin.  Here is a picture of her as she was getting settled for an afternoon nap.  She looks comfortable doesn’t she?

After tacking back and forth for a hour or two we decided to sail south to Mukilteo so I could get pictures of the ferries that pass back and forth from Mukilteo to Clinton and Clinton to Mukilteo.  I love watching the ferries sail back and forth.  Mark and I have a very fond memory of watching the Colman dock ferries from a wonderful hotel room at the Seattle Westin on New Year’s Day back in the early 1990’s.

At the end of our day we allowed Chloe to come out of the cabin.  She has never been in the cockpit before while underway.  She seemed to like it, but after a while was happy to go back to her bed in the cabin.  Another wonderful day spent on the waters of Possession Sound.
